The project explores and questions traditional ways of camping, spatially located and organized within a single building in a dense urban context, taking advantage of existing infrastructures, a vertical terrain and views out into the city. Existing low budget hotels are limited and often a poor answer to the general demand of cheap lodging in city centers, whereas camping areas are located far away in the city’s anonymous expanding outer limits. Three different types of camping are organized vertically in the project : caves, flat tent camp pitches, and treehouses. The project celebrates an urban building, imagined as diversified spaces for new ways of civic temporary inhabitation.
