The artistic research explores ways of making lived experiences visible. At issue are inner-body phenomena caused by an autoimmune disease and perceived as if they were tactile sensations. What languages and memories are available to me to make the invisible visible? Does the research support the coping process and the reappropriation of a body that I perceive as foreign? How can subjective perception be conveyed visually as ‘embodiments’ and what relevance can they have with regard to the medical humanities as well as in the clinical context? The title of the project is to be understood metaphorically, conceptually, methodologically, psychoanalytically as well as materially and also refers to the Lacanian notion of ‘suture’. The artistic reflections on the transition from sensation to perception to visual representation culminate in the Phenomenological Archive of Body Sensations.
