Daniël Siegersma

In the project The Relationship, non-human creatures explore complex social, political, and cultural topics through their own understandings, challenging human-centric perspectives. Inspired by puppetry and cinematic props the four handcrafted creatures strongly resemble their real species: the horseshoe crab, the slug, the starling, and the seagull. Each creature represents a specific theme; inhabited by its maker, the creature engages in conversations with people to explore and challenge humans’ understanding of the world. By framing the conversation through the lens of the creature and the personal experience of the maker, we aim to create a space where the experience of others can be reflected on with naïve eyes to gain a new understanding.
