Projektbeschreibung
“Let it go, let it go down / It’s okay / Let it come, let it take all / Thoughts away” Sings Beverly Glenn-Copeland at the entrance to the village, and the gentle rhythm of his electronic keyboard sets a mood for the day. Here Faggots and their friends, Fairies, Queens, and other mystical creatures, live outside of what others see as reality. You may call it a dreamland, and that’s fine. Sunset Villagers are proud to be dreamers. Ezra Šimek’s ongoing exploration of archetypical fictional characters and the margins of their identity has focused singularly on one or two protagonists. In their new project, probing one’s own queerness succeeds a larger world-building format. Fictional narratives from the land outside of the late-capitalist societal normalization meet historical figures, mirroring one another. Trans and queer elders encounter their youth, to tell a new story from the Sunset Village.
