However, for the majority of Austrian nationals it has evolved into a defining characteristic of their identity. Over the past 67 years permanent neutrality became a security blanket for many without questioning its history and its role in today’s uncertain and fast-paced era. Mourning Neutrality offers visitors a space for collective mourning by creating a moving, immersive archive of Austrian neutrality.
