The study evaluates the application of the UNESCO-ICCROM RE-ORG methodology at Bharat Itihas Samshodhak Mandal (BISM), Pune, to address critical storage and documentation challenges. Faced with overcrowded repositories and fragmented records, the institution implemented a four-phase framework. Focusing on diverse collections including Pothis, manuscripts, and textiles, the project optimized large storage spaces to mitigate risks involved. The results demonstrate that systematic spatial reorganization and staff training significantly improved material accessibility and established a foundation for sustainable collection care. This case study provides a scalable model for heritage institutions to modernize legacy infrastructure by aligning site-specific constraints with international standards, ensuring the long-term preservation and scholarly utility of historical resources.
