The thesis "Barriered Beginnings" explores the structural barriers to early childhood development and education resources for children in Slovakia's Roma community. After centuries of persecution, Slovak Roma still face some of the most drastic segregation in the EU. "Barriered Beginnings" is a group project of Katarína Čechová, Fricka Lindemann and Tereza Sejková in collaboration with ETP Slovakia about the life path barriers of a Roma child in segregated Slovakia. In our thesis, we focus on the history and ongoing nature of structural racism and its impact on language inclusion, minority rights protection, and future perspectives.
