Architectural Autophagy

Projektbeschreibung
The project examines the transformation and adaptation of obsolete buildings by reconfiguring cannibalized building components. Department stores are suffering from changing consumer behavior leading to increasing vacancy. The project negotiates adaptive reuse and reconfiguration of building components such as parts of slabs, columns, walls, and other structures creating vibrant new spaces with the aim of making the value of existing resources spatially tangible. The project is located in Frankfurt, Germany. In order to enliven Frankfurt's city center through experience and interaction, the transformation includes a brand gallery for a museum-like brand experience, an event hall, and apartments.
